ABCD provides community-driven, community-based health promotion and disease prevention initiatives that aim to overcome documented health disparities in low-income neighborhoods and enable all community residents to achieve optimum health and wellness, regardless of income levels.
Family Planning Services
ABCD Family Planning comprehensive clinical and counseling services with access to contraceptive methods are integrated in 52 primary care sites and reach more than 29,000 men, women and teens in Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Quincy, Waltham, Everett, Malden, Revere and Chelsea. The program ensures client-centered, voluntary and affordable care.
The Family Planning Training Institute provides professional level training on family planning, reproductive health and sexuality education for health care providers, counselors, educators and other community health workers.
Community-based Prevention Programs
These programs reach youth and adults in their community who may not use – or trust – conventional sources of care and information and to promote community-building. They include: Young Women’s Health Leadership Academy; Sister2Sister; Adolescent Sexuality Education/Let Girls Learn; Community Health and Wellness; Social Media Campaigns; and HIV/STI Testing Initiatives.
