Elder Services

ABCD empowers older, low-income and disadvantaged adults to stay vibrant, secure and engaged.

Foster Grandparents

While enhancing the quality of their own lives, ABCD’s 170 Foster Grandparent volunteers share their skills, values and love with children who are at risk, disadvantaged and/or have special needs in Boston, Quincy, Cambridge, Somerville, Malden, Medford, Everett, Melrose and Stoneham. These Foster Grandparents volunteer at 53 partner sites including Head Start, child care centers and public and private schools. Foster Grandparent volunteers help young children prepare for school, work with them on literacy and mathematical skills, and mentor young people from diverse cultures. In 2017, ABCD Foster Grandparent volunteers provided 181,947 hours of volunteer services to children and families.
